Travel & Stay
As we have family and friends from all corners of the world and lived in a pandemic cocoon for the last two years in New York, we thought a destination wedding was the way to go! We would be thrilled if you can join us in southern Italy’s iconic Amalfi Coast.
The Amalfi Coast is made of a treasure trove of ancient towns strung together by winding coastal roads, dramatic cliffs, pastel houses, and wandering vineyards. Suspended high above where the mountains meet the sky, it’s easy to feel as if you’re walking among the clouds.
Ravello is one of the hilltop towns along the Amalfi Coast, offering some of the most romantic views that have inspired the greatest figures in literature and music. A stone’s throw away lies the glamorous island of Capri, the ancient city of Pompeii, and the dormant yet formidable Mount Vesuvius. Centuries of trade and the impact of civilizations old that have graced its shores are evident in the architecture, culture, and cuisine.
Getting to Ravello
Naples is the best jumping-off point to get to the coast (approx. 40 mi/64 km). From Naples, you have the option of hiring a care, public transport, or taxi/ shuffle bus to take you to Ravello. Car services are the most reliable, affordable and take you from the airport or train station to your hotel.
Places to Stay
We recommend staying in the town of Amalfi or neighboring towns (such as Positano), but you will need a car or use public transport to travel around with ease. Our list of suggested hotels, as well as a location guide for booking Airbnb, are accommodation options closer to the wedding venue.
Our wedding planners, Angela and Rosaria, are willing to work with all of our guests to explore accommodation options within walking distance to our venue. They can also help with local transportation. Please contact them at info@ravelloevents.com
Exploring the Coast
There's so much to see and do on the Amalfi Coast, and the Sita Bus puts it all within reach for a cool €2.50. Hop on to explore the coast and it’s 13 towns, such as Sorrento and Postiano. And, if you're looking for ideas, we've got plenty!
Getting to Ravello
Start from Naples

By Public Transport
There are many options if you want to keep your carbon footprint to a minimum:
Ferry and Train: Naples Bay Ferry offers high-speed ferry service between Amalfi and Salerno several times a day. The train station in Salerno is a quick five-minute walk from the ferry terminal, and trains run nearly every hour between Salerno and Naples. Duration: 35 minutes via hi-speed ferry and 40-55 minute train ride.
Train and Bus: You can take in the country side by taking a train from Naples to the Vietri Sul Mare station in Salerno, and tickets can be purchased at the station. Once in Salerno, you either take a bus or ferry to Amalfi, and then a short taxi to Ravello. See the Trenitalia or ItaliaRail websites for more details. Duration: 1.25-hour bus ride and 40-55 minute train ride.
Car rental
Driving on the Amalfi Coast can be difficult and dangerous. The roads are narrow and windy as the towns are on the side of a mountain. Parking is also limited as Ravello since it is a small town. Driving in Italy is on the right side, and most cars in Italy are manual.
If you do decide to rent a car, we suggest you definitely get a GPS.
Places to Stay
Ravello is a small town and all of the hotels are in walking distance to the wedding venue. We recommend reserving hotel rooms as soon as you can as Ravello is very popular wedding destination, meaning hotels and B&B's book up very quickly.
Our Recommendation
Within walking distance to the wedding venue is Villa Maria. Its chief joy is the hidden dining terrace that has one of the finest restaurant views of the coast with unfolding headlands of cliffs dropping down to the sea. Much of the food comes from the hotel’s garden while rooms are beautifully traditional and relaxing.
Your Home away from Home
Ravello is full of beautiful villas offering several options, whether you are looking for your own private terrace, hot tub, or exclusive parking spot. Here is a list of the top Airbnbs in town. Be sure to also check out Booking.com for a wide range of boutique hotels and villas.
When booking, remember we're looking at a bird's eye view of a cliff. Hotels and AirBnBs may look close by, but they are likely hundreds of vertical feet away. Save your legs, and find a place you can comfortably walk to and from. You can check the walking distance on Google Maps.
